I have another scripture you can refer to. Rom 10:13 " every one calling on the name of Jehovah will be saved."
The Greek Diaglott reads. " For every one who may invoke the name of the Lord shall be saved" the Greek work for Lord is "κ?ριος", (which is Jesus) If you look at verse 9 of Rom 10 it says, "for if you publicly declare that word in your own mouth, that Jesus is Lord and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved." In the Greek Diaglott, in this verse the word Lord is spelled the same. At the very least, this rendering contradicts vs 13. according to the NWT. The Diaglott I have is also published by the WTB$ Putting this into proper context vs 9 - 12 all refer to calling and believing upon Jesus. Then out of the blue vs 13 says calling upon the name of Jehovah, way out of context. As for the reason for this, I can only a guess, since it was Fred Franz that oversaw the translating of the NWT. But the importance of Jesus seems to be downplayed. Since they are called Jehovah's Witnesses and not Jesus Witnesses.
Another scripture that is also mistranslated is Jude 9. Again they took the Greek word for Lord and translated it to Jehovah. If you look at the account in John 20:28 Thomas said "My Lord my God" the same Greek spelling is employed in both renderings of Lord.
Just some food for thought.

Great post son-in-law. I must say here and open so all can see, and not intended to embarrass you. This young man came to us and asked for my daughters hand in marriage, only after a few dates. I knew at that time he needed a little growing up, so to say. But now that he has been letting go of his disruptive past, he has very much matured, at a unexpected and surprising rate, one of which my wife & I are very, very proud of. Proud of both of you. I love you son.

the elders and ministerial servants at my hall were asked to attend a strange meeting last night.
the society is asking for our help to raise $10,200.
they are seeking to raise this money in april from elders and ministerial servants in our circuit only.
Why such a oddball figure, instead of just an even $10,000. It may be that the circuit has been hit with an unexpected fine or expense and they don't want to admit it. Or was someone sued? I wouldn't give a penny until full disclosure. We had an incident in a cong. we were in. The COBE [P.O at that time] got up and told us the elders could get a smokin' good deal on a new lawn tractor and then proceeded to pass a resolution to buy it. When the cong. all agreed he had the nerve to wipe his brown and say "Whew, I'm glad you all agreed, because I already bought it!" Misappropriation of cong. funds at the very least. well i'm sorry i've been absent, it's been a rough few weeks and still having to work....i ended up having a nice happy surprise by having the day off, so i'm finally going to get caught up on things.. .
april 1st was my 6 months of not reporting service time and i am officially inactive now.

We've always been bothered by the fact, "How can this be God's organization with all of this crap going on?" [Elders lying, injustices, persecuting the victims instead of the guilty, general abuse of the flock, some things said from the platform that weren't right etc] So we had all of the puzzle pieces and I don't think we were truly 'under' the mind control that most JW's are, but we just didn't have the final piece and didn't realize that it wasn't just imperfect men but it was the entire organization that was flawed!
But we have a dear friend that we have known for decades. His entire family are about as JW you can get and some day when we can reveal everything, we will all write an article for JWStruggle. But he's one of the most intelligent men we know and we kind of lost touch for a number of years after we moved out of state, but then moved back.
But we got back in touch a few years ago and he came over to visit for a weekend last year [we still live in different states but alot closer] but we were talking and he made the statement that he believed Jesus died on a cross. That was shocking for us and thankfully we know this man well enough to hear him out and NOT just throw him out of our house for being an 'apostate'. So he showed us how in the reasoning book pg 89 how the WTBT$ has a quote from the Imperial Bible Dictionary [Link below] then has [....] in a couple of places. Then when you go to the actual book and read the quote the IBD is actually pro-cross and the WTBT$ left out some important info regarding the cross!!!! Cherry-picking at their finest!

there are many cultural differences between the general population of the us and europe, what about jws?
i have heard about such things as beards being allowed, movies that a jw cant watch in the us or would be frowned upon watching being ok, same with tv shows, and even the way they dress in public.
seems more laid back over there if this is true.. any truth to this?
Have to use my hubby's post, but heck, I remember a Circuit overseer saying from the platform at an assembly that no JW should go see the Star Wars movies because they were so bloody & violent and it was rated PG!
Even long side burns was a no-no and hubby couldn't be used.

Have to use hubby's posts since I'm out already. My mom told us about their new ass hall, cost $8M and the COBE of their hall proudly announced that they will have paid for it by the time it is completed. In January they had their special 1 day and Sat morning it was announced that they were already showing a deficit. By concluding comments that afternoon they were needing $12,000 for the expenses. Quite a few in my mom's hall were upset because they thought they were going to be rent free, and only have to pay for utilities.

we begin with luke 24:46. we have a claim being made about a prophecy.. speaking to his disciples on the night of his alleged resurrection, he said, "thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.
" that the resurrection of christ on the third day was prophesied in the scriptures was claimed also by the apostle paul in 1 corinthians 15:3-4: "for i delivered to you first of all that which i also received: that christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
These are the only things we can find...
Jonah 1:17 Now Jehovah appointed a great fish to swallow Jo′nah, so that Jo′nah came to be in the inward parts of the fish three days and three nights.
Mt 12:40 For just as Jo′nah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
Most of the references were in the NT. The NWT cross references are all messed up and take you to scriptures that aren't even connected. So what's the answer Terry? Unless you're not ready to reveal.
